An Analyst’s Transformation through an Intersubjective Dyadic Experience
Dr. de Pottel will present a case that illustrates how she deepened her knowledge and connection to intersubjective theory/technique. Her professional growth facilitated her ability to be within the intersubjective dyad while experiencing overwhelming anxiety. Out of this intensity, a primitively felt, but not yet verbal, power struggle emerged within the dyad: analyst and patient struggled with felt-to-be unacceptable aggressive aspects of themselves. The author will share rich clinical material that shows the patient’s emerging transformation and will address the analyst's transformation, as well.
