Understanding Clinical Process from Multiple Perspectives

Three esteemed psychoanalysts will discuss a case presented by a fourth-year candidate, each from their distinctive theoretical orientation. This stimulating panel presentation will provide a glimpse into the spectrum of psychoanalytic approaches and their convergences and divergences. Following the presentations, a moderated discussion will encourage the exchange of ideas and perspectives.

Presenter Information

Abbot Bronstein PhD, is a former Training and Supervising Analyst at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis. He was honored as the distinguished analyst in 2017 at the meetings of the American Psychoanalytic Association, where he also ran a discussion group on Kleinian clinical thinking for over 20 years. Dr. Bronstein introduced and developed the Working Party Groups in North America before becoming the chair of the CCM Working Party. He has authored and co-authored numerous psychoanalytic publications, and he is the editor of the Analyst at Work Section of the International Journal of Psychoanalysis.
 
Charles Cutler, Ph.D. is a Training and Supervising Psychoanalyst at the San Diego Psychoanalytic Center while maintaining a private practice in La Jolla. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego. Formerly, he was a Training and Supervising Psychoanalyst at the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Institute. 
 
Alan Sugarman, Ph.D. is a Training and Supervising Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychoanalyst at the San Diego Psychoanalytic Center while maintaining a private practice in Solana Beach. He is
also a Director-at-Large and a former and inaugural Head of the Department of Psychoanalytic Education of APsaA. Dr. Sugarman has published widely in psychoanalytic literature and sits on the editorial boards of the Psychoanalytic Quarterly, Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association, and Psychoanalytic Psychology.
