Psychoanalysis and the Treatment of the Addictions

Dr. Sonnenberg will review the subject of addiction and the contributions of psychoanalytic investigators to its treatment. He will provide a broad description of the way a psychoanalytic approach facilitates addiction treatment, whether it be to single or multiple substances or behaviors.

Presenter Information

We are delighted to welcome as Guest Faculty, Stephen Sonnenberg, M.D., Training and Supervising Analyst at the Houston-Galveston Psychoanalytic Institute. He is the Founding Director of the Austin, Texas Center for Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, has served on the North American Editorial Board of the International Journal of Psychoanalysis, and currently serves on the editorial board of Psychoanalytic Inquiry.
