Abbot Bronstein, PhD - The Analyst's Work: Bridging Theoretical Differences Through Clinical Practice

Description: This presentation explores the fundamental question: What do psychoanalysts actually do in their clinical practice? Based on Dr. Abbot Bronstein's editorial introduction to the "Analyst at Work" series, we'll examine the challenges of describing and discussing psychoanalytic work across different theoretical traditions.

The presentation addresses the fragmentation within psychoanalysis—ongoing debates about core concepts like transference, the unconscious, and interpretation—while highlighting the importance of cross-theoretical dialogue. We'll discuss how analysts from different schools (Kleinian, Lacanian, Bionian, etc.) can learn from observing each other's actual clinical work rather than retreating into theoretical silos.
