Dates: September 2026 - April 2027
Registration Opens: June 2026

This seven-month series (Sept - Apr) offers clinicians a comprehensive introduction to the essential concepts and techniques of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Through monthly interactive sessions, participants will have the opportunity to explore the theoretical foundations of psychoanalysis while engaging in practical case discussions that illuminate how these principles operate in real clinical work.
The seminar emphasizes the unique contributions of psychoanalytic psychotherapy, including the understanding of unconscious processes, the exploration of internal conflicts, and the critical role of the therapeutic relationship. Clinicians will learn to assess and formulate cases, identify personality structures and functioning, and develop strategies to work effectively with unconscious dynamics in their patients.
Over the course of the sessions, participants will focus on:
- Differentiating psychoanalytic therapy from other approaches, highlighting its attention to unconscious processes and the therapeutic relationship.
- Case formulation, including assessment of personality organization and the integration of developmental history into treatment planning.
- Phases of treatment, building a strong therapeutic alliance, and understanding the mechanisms of therapeutic change.
- Interpretation of unconscious affect and conflict, connecting recurring patterns in the present to early experiences.
- Defenses and transference interventions, learning to recognize and work with these dynamics to support patient insight and growth.
This seminar is ideal for clinicians who wish to deepen their understanding of psychoanalytic theory and enhance their clinical practice. By the end of the series, participants will have a richer conceptual framework, practical tools, and a heightened sensitivity to the complex dynamics that shape therapeutic work.
