Clinical Moments: Theatres of the Body

Clinical Moments is Back!

Clinical Moments is an in-person-only monthly series that explores pivotal moments in ongoing analytic treatments. Each session features a case presentation by a different analyst, focusing on a clinical moment that provides clinicians with an opportunity to think psychoanalytically about the material and deepen their understanding through shared insights. Whether you're seeking to refine your clinical skills or broaden your understanding of psychoanalytic work, Clinical Moments provides a rich forum for learning and professional growth.

November's Theme: Theatres of the Body

A clinical case presentation and discussion with Senior Analyst, Laurie Weiss, Ph.D., and Recent SDPC Psychoanalytic Candidate, Zoe Crawford, LCSW, with Senior Analyst Mojgan Khademi, PsyD as the Discussant.

Join us for a compelling 90-minute presentation in which Laurie Weiss, Ph.D., and Zoe Crawford, LCSW, share a clinical case, offering a rare window into the complexities of analytic work. Mojgan Khademi, PsyD, as the Discussant, will reflect on the analyst’s process, how one listens, responds, and holds the unfolding emotional “theater” of the treatment.

The title, Theatres of the Body, references the classic psychoanalytic text by Joyce McDougall, a French analyst who explored how early “theater scripts” from childhood continue to shape the adult mind and may manifest through the body as somatic symptoms.

This presentation invites participants to consider the deep connections between body and psyche, and how the analyst’s understanding can help transform embodied suffering into meaning and voice.

*Join us at 6:00 p.m. for a wine and cheese reception with the presenters.
