Spotlight: Charles Cutler, Ph.D.

Charles Cutler, Ph.D. has recently joined our faculty as a Training and Supervising Analyst. Formerly, he was on the faculty of the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Institute in Minneapolis. Dr. Cutler (Charlie) obtained his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Purdue University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Harvard Medical School, McLean Hospital.

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Charlie moved to San Diego to be closer to family and, of course, to escape “those wonderful winters in Minnesota.”  He became an analyst, first and foremost, to better understand himself, and next, because he felt a love for children. Initially, he focused on the long-term residential treatment of seriously disturbed children before entering into private practice.

Charlie has a special interest in the work of the British Middle School analysts and especially the contributions of Winnicott.  His office is in La Jolla where he sees adolescents and adults in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis and provides supervision to analytic candidates and psychotherapists.

You can learn more about him from his website www.charlescutlerphd.com  and can contact him by email (cmcutler1@gmail.com) or phone (858-521-9382).
His office address is 8950 Villa La Jolla Drive, Suite A220, La Jolla, CA 92037
