The Psychodynamics of the Lone Actor Terrorist

Dr. Meloy will discuss the pathway to violence and the various proximal warning behaviors that precede a lone actor terrorist attack, grounded in his consultations and research over the past several decades and his development of the TRAP-18 (Terrorist Radicalization Assessment Protocol).  Emphasis will be placed on the US social and political turmoil that can be expected over the next year and the degree to which psychoanalytic clinicians and other mental health professionals can discern the violent signals that may be apparent in their patients and how to respond to them.
